Amazing Weekend! We can't say enough good things about this weekend. A sold out party cruise with 300 drunken people dancing up a storm and enjoying the perfect weather on Friday follwed by a capacity crowd at the Grog in Newburyport! The line was out the door and the room was filled with debauchery! Amazing! Thanks so much to the Isles of Shoals Steam Ship Company and The Grog for the help in making this weekend one of the best ever! NH Roller Derby Girls Rule!
On May 22nd, we had the pleasure of playing at the City Sports Grille while they were hosting the NH Roller Derby After Party! These girls know how to have fun and love music, so mix them with our fans and it was INSANITY in Manchester, NH! If you weren't there, you missed a great night! We had guest singers, brought out some new songs, and kicked some arse! Thanks to all who came!
![]() Don't forget to check out NH Roller Derby at http://www.nhrollerderby.com They are non-profit and promote "women's athleticism while giving back to the local community!" All while knocking each other around on roller skates! Yes! We would like to give a special shout out to the ladies of Skate Free or Die! THANKS! STM My Throat Hurts... I Almost Got Into a Fight for an Hour!Recently, we had a gig that was immediately followed by a steroid enduced "almost" fight. It was an "almost" fight because not a single punch was thrown, but if derogatory comments and insults were punches, this would have been a 15 round beat fest! Back and forth, forth and back for over an hour. Here's an actual quote, "I'll rip your fu$%ing heart out of your chest!"
Scariest thing to a Vocalist - Illness
Whether you sing lead or sing back up, the vocals are very, very important to a band and probably the hardest thing to fake or work around. If your hand hurts, you can change a chord or fudge a solo on a guitar. On the bass, just play less. Drums same thing, but on vocals, people know EXACTLY what a song is supposed to do/say, what notes are supposed to be hit, etc. Much harder to fudge.
So, because of this, overworking your throat is bad news, but getting sick is the worst. When most singers get sick, it's in their throat. Cutting off range or just trashing the voice completely. This time of year is the worst for getting sick. Changing of the seasons brings on allergies and awakens illnesses as people get more social, go outside more, etc. Unfortunately, the shows and crowds don't care what time of year it is, you have to continue to perform. This post is not an apology or an excuse, as Pete isn't sick (though one of the other bands members has severe allergies right now) but an acknowledgement that we are watching ourselves and our voices like hawks until we pass the spring period! STM
Loads of new pics!
Spent the last 3 hours creating galleries and uploading images. Check out the "Pictures" section to get a peek. Images from Halloween when we dressed up like Poison and played an entire set of their tunes, as well as numerous other shows across NH and MA. We had a blast and want to share the love!
Lighting Adds So Much to Shows
Was just looking at some pics from a show we did back in January (hard to believe it's already April!) and was amazing at the awesome light show. Even pics with a cheap camera come out awesome when the lighting is incredible!
![]() We now have our own lights, not nearly as awesome as these, but we are slowly growing to this size. LOL! If Dan got his way, we'd have spinning lasers and probably a smoke machine ;) I don't think Pete would appreciate that! You can see a lot more pics from this show and others up in our Photo section! Come check out our new lights and new songs! STM |
